Etienne De Villier, ATP's CEO, will hand Rafa Nadal the trophy that confirms him as the world's No.1, next Sunday 12th October at 1.30 p.m. The ATP has chosen the Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid' Pista Central to hand over the trophy. The tennis player from Majorca reached the first place in the ranking on 18th August. It is a unique opportunity for the fans to pay the homage he deserves for this spectacular year. "Rafa's achievement of the Number 1 place in the South African Airways ATP Ranking is the reward for a fantastic career in a complicated year. His great season on clay, where he was undefeated, and his good results on grass this year have confirmed him as a great player on all surfaces. Putting an end to Federer's reign has been a small great deed but, now, the best player in the world and all tennis fans hope that both players keep competing with each other in one of the strongest rivalries in the sports world," commented Etienne de Villiers, ATP's CEO.The Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid will be the first ATP tournament Rafa plays in Spain as Number 1. "We are delighted that the ATP has chosen our court to hand over the trophy. Rafa is loved in every country, but here specially. Tennis public in Madrid has always supported him," commented Manuel Santana, tournament director. The entertainment during the ceremony will be provided by the actors of "Dream 2" with an acrobatic show that will be broadcasted live by TVE. On Sunday 12th October, the matches of the tournament's final draw start as well. If the draw is favourable chances are good that Nadal will make his debut in the singles draw on Tuesday 14th October at 8 p.m. He will also play in the doubles draw with Carlos Moya. Still a week left until the beginning of the tournament and the Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid is already breaking records. Tickets were sold at a vertiginous pace, faster by far than in past editions. Today, tickets for evening sessions of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are sold out, as well as those for Saturday's semi-final and Sunday's final. There are still tickets for the other sessions. The seventh edition of the tournament will be held from 11th to 19th October in the courts of the Casa de Campo trade fair park. The tournament has the support of the Mutua Madrileña as main sponsor and the Madrid City Council, alongside companies like Mercedes Benz, Estrella Damm, Prosegur, Grupo Prasa, Rolex, Air Europa, Hugo Boss, Enel, Banco Madrid, Lacoste, Ricoh, Schweppes, Metro, Adecco, Tien 21, ISS, Vocento and Marca.
