Rafael Nadal beats Tomas Berdych in Indian Wells semis

Rafael Nadal reached the final of his first hard-court tournament in a year with a superb win over Tomas Berdych at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
The Spaniard won 6-4 7-5 to set up a possible final with world number one Novak Djokovic, who plays Juan Martin del Potro later on Saturday.
Nadal is ranked fifth after missing seven months with a knee injury.
He has won 17 of 18 matches, picking up two titles along the way, since returning on clay last month.
The 26-year-old was in fine form from the outset against Berdych, a man he had beaten in 12 of 15 previous meetings including the 2010 Wimbledon final.
After taking the first set with a solitary break, Nadal looked in danger of being dragged into a three-set battle when Berdych moved 5-3 up in the second.
However, the Czech played a poor service and handed the break straight back with a woeful attempt at a smash.
Nadal needed no further encouragement and took the last four games, fending off three break points with some fine serving in what proved to the final game.
The 11-time Grand Slam champion will play his first hard-court final since the 2012 Australian Open final on Sunday, and could face Djokovic for the first time since last year's French Open.
