Nadal en finale à Rome

L'Espagnol Rafael Nadal a eu raison de son compatriote David Ferrer 7-6 (6) et 6-0. À l'horizon se dessine un duel contre le favori Novak Djokovic, victorieux 6-2 et 7-6 (4) aux dépens de Roger Federer.

Avec Ferrer remportant la plupart des longs échanges en début de match, Nadal a dû sauver sept balles de bris avant de remporter son premier jeu au service. Ferrer a pris les devants 2-0 et 5-4 en bris d'impasse, mais il a raté une belle occasion de distancer son rival en envoyant un amorti dans le filet. Nadal a maintenant battu Ferrer 11 fois de suite sur terre battue.

Nadal a gagné le tournoi romain en 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 et 2010. L'an dernier, il a perdu la finale 6-4 et 6-4 devant Djokovic. Ce dernier l'a aussi battu en finale le mois dernier, à Monte Carlo.

Nadal on form in Rome

Rafael Nadal continued to shake off the bad memories of last week's blue clay misery in Madrid as he coasted through to the third round of the Rome Masters with a 6-1 7-5 win over Florian Mayer.
Nadal did not lose a point on his first serve in a dominant first set against Germany's world number 28, and although Mayer rallied in the second the top seed stepped up when it mattered to wrap up an 81-minute victory.
Nadal's next opponent will be another Spaniard, Marcel Granollers, who beat Italy's Fabio Fognini 6-3 6-4.
